Art Galleries in Rio's Favelas Challenge the Elitist Art Market

Although my primary role at the agency was to edit 4-5 videos a day, I pitched a story idea to the editor-in-chief about two artists I had been following for years. Maxwell Alexandre and Allan Weber had opened contemporary art galleries in Rio de Janeiro's favelas, challenging elitist barriers in an art market traditionally concentrated in the city's South Zone. In addition to writing the story, I accompanied AFP’s video and photography team during the production, organized the logistics for filming locations, and coordinated with AFP's transportation team to ensure a smooth reporting process. The written and video report was published on AFP’s platforms and featured by major outlets, including France 24, RFI, TV5Monde, UOL, and others.

At AFP Portuguese, I edited 3-5 videos per day. Here are some of the videos I produced during my one-year internship.
